Podiatrist and Things You Need to Know About Them

A doctor that has special skills for the foot is referred to as a podiatrist. They can also be called a DPA or doctor of podiatrist medicine. The letter DPA is written after every podiatrist doctor’s name. This surgeon or physician treats any problems related to the foot, connecting parts of the leg, and ankle.

People still use the old name chiropodist, which is now known as Podiatrist. Just like the other doctors, physicians, and surgeons, there are four years of training and study to become a podiatrist in podiatric medical school. After the studies and training, they need to get at least three years of experience in residency training in any hospital or clinic.

After passing out all the important exams, a podiatrist gets certified by the American Board of Podiatrist Medicine. There are few podiatrists that want to study further in specialized training that will help them focus well on one certain area. With this, they become a specialist in the health of feet.

    Podiatrist Surgeon

The podiatrist with a specialization in foot surgery is called the podiatric surgeon. They are the ones who have been qualified by the Foot and Ankle department in America. A podiatric surgeon would have given a special exam on foot surgery and general health for a foot injury and conditions.

To work in a particular country, the podiatrist must have a license in their name. No one is allowed to practice without a license. Like every other doctor, the podiatrist must get their license renewed every year. They need to have a proper calendar to attend every special seminar punctually every year from the day of their training.

    Conditions of the foot

All age groups can visit a podiatrist for any foot problems or in case you want to treat yourself with laser toenail fungus. Most of them get treatment for general foot conditions. Every podiatrist has an area specialized under them.

    They can be specialized in:

    • Surgery
    • Sports medicine
    • Wound care
    • Diabetes
    • Pediatric (children)

You should consult a podiatric if you feel any pain. Even though you don’t have any pain you should get a yearly check-up done and get a laser toenail fungus removal done if there are any signs of it. They also let you know the perfect shoe for your feet.

If you have a fungal issue on the toe and want to get a laser treatment for toenail fungus, you can seek the help of Dr. Sima Soltani. She is the best podiatrist in Irvine with a specialization in operation-less treatments. She has experience of 20 years of treating people with issues in their feet and ankle.

Here is a list of common foot problems that can be cured by a podiatrist:

    • Blister
    • Corns
    • Wart
    • Calluses
    • Bunions
    • Foot infection
    • Nail infection
    • Heel pain
    • Smelly feet
    • Heel spurs
    • Cracked or dry heel skin
    • Hammer’s toe
    • Neuromas

The list can go on for a longer time. It is better to get treated before things get worst, if you have a fungal issue on the toenail, it is better that you get a toenail fungus laser treatment done before it can get more damage.

Try and get a yearly full body check-up done to stay away from any sort of problems that can be dangerous later on.
