Is A Chemical Peel Worth It? Know From the Experts!

Many people in the holistic beauty industry refer to chemical peels as “microdermabrasion.” They are the same thing, just a different name for something that is considered a skincare treatment. A chemical peel has been used for decades to help lighten dark spots and age spots, remove acne scars or hyperpigmentation, and improve skin tone. The best part about chemical peels is that they can be administered by a facialist or an esthetician in a salon setting. The results are excellent, but they can also be quite uncomfortable. You can always consult Memphis aesthetic medical spa specialists for the best chemical peel treatment.

    What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is the opposite of an acid peel. The acid in an acid peel causes micro-tears in the skin to help enhance exfoliation, stimulate blood flow, and improve cellular turnover for clearer skin. A chemical peel does not cause micro-tears in the skin to help stimulate circulation or promote exfoliation. Instead, it has ingredients that act as antibacterial agents to reduce inflammation and remove dead skin cells without damaging the skin’s layer of living tissue. This type of treatment can be used to help decrease the appearance of:

    1. Skin: The appearance of age-related tendencies such as dark spots, acne scars, mottled skin tone, or discoloration.
    2. Skin texture: Fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, dryness, dullness, inflammation. UV damage: Facial sunspots or dark spots caused by overexposure to the sun.

As with any skincare treatment, the effectiveness will directly depend on proper skincare practices regularly. Acne scarring may improve slightly on its own over time if it is not too severe; however, some scars may never fully fade despite appropriate skin care products and treatments.

Is it worth getting a chemical peel?

This is an essential question. The price of getting a chemical peel varies depending on which professional you choose (if you should even go to an esthetician or other specialty skincare specialist) and the length of the treatment. It depends on how much improvement you are looking for, but any time spent on your skincare health helps improve your overall appearance.

What is it like to get a chemical peel?

When the chemical peel solution is applied, it will likely sting, itch, or both. After the treatment, there may be some redness, swelling, or irritation that will subside over time. It may feel a little uncomfortable for a few days, but the best way to support your skin is to follow up with your skincare routine.

Chemical peels are excellent for treating blemishes, dark spots, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and other unnatural skin conditions. They can also help to smooth out the skin’s texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
